Rosie is originally from London, UK, and has previously lived in Thailand, but now she calls Sydney, Australia home. She is a talented freediver who runs her own freediving school where she is fortunate enough to share her love of the ocean with people from all walks of life.

Rosie is also a self-taught underwater photographer who loves to document the magic of our oceans from curious cuttlefish to humpback whales in crystal clear waters - Rosie captures all aspects of marine life as she explores the oceans on a single breathhold.

When did you first start your storytelling journey?

I started storytelling during lockdown.

What path did you choose after leaving school?

I studied journalism at university, before travelling for four years and spending time living in Thailand. After discovering the beauty of Australia during this time, I decided to make a plan to move there permanently, and I now call Australia home.

What are the fondest memories from your upbringing that you feel impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?

When I was young, my dad and I would go beachcombing along the Kent coast, looking for little treasures that the ocean had washed up. I think it is this that first inspired my love of the ocean.

What/who currently inspires you?

My job as a freediving instructor has allowed me the realise the healing power of the ocean. Seeing the calming and humbling effect it has on us is truly a beautiful experience and makes me inspired every day to document its magic.

What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?

The human impact on our oceans - having travelled to many remote and 'untouched' locations, it is devastating to see how far the impact of our lifestyles has spread. To make a positive difference, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction.

What legacy do you hope to leave?

My hope is to encourage people to value our oceans and discover the magic that lies within them.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow their dreams as an Ocean Storyteller?

Like everything, photography and storytelling is a learning process, you don't need to be perfect.

Just do what you love, and magic will happen.
