For the past few years. Gianna has been building her ocean portfolio one shot at a time. Starting out on an action camera three or four years ago, and recently purchasing her first compact camera and housing, Gianna’s work truly captures a beautiful life lived by the ocean.
What are the fondest memories from your upbringing that you feel impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?
I was taught early on to respect nature and pick up trash. I spent so many days climbing trees to retrieve a plastic bag, or reaching into a lake to grab some garbage. I probably wouldn’t care as deeply for the planet as I do now if it weren’t for the lessons of respecting the planet that I had as a child.
Who/what currently inspires you?
Something that inspires me is knowing that one person, one action, or one image can make a difference.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
I want to get rid of the disconnect between humans and nature, and teach people to love and care for the planet. There are many things I want to change, but I believe that this is an important step to changing others things in the world.
What legacy do you hope to leave?
I don’t need to have my name be known, I just simply want to spread more love for the planet, and educate others on why and how we can protect it.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow their dreams as an ocean Storyteller?
I would tell people to be true to their way of sharing their stories, and to speak from the heart based on their experiences.
